Mayor's #ColumbiaWeighsIn Challenge

he #ColumbiaWeighsIn challenge now has official weigh-in locations where participants in the challenge can weigh themselves free of charge.

“We are excited to embark on a three-month health and wellness journey that will not only change the width of our waistbands but will also change the lives of the people of Columbia,” said Columbia Mayor Benjamin. “Weight loss is more than just shedding a few pounds – it’s about taking better care of the one body you were given and seeing how diet, exercise and healthy thinking can impact the other areas of your life.”

The #ColumbiaWeighsIn partner gyms are:

Dynamic Health and Fitness,

Wolf’s Fitness,

24/7 Health and Fitness Center – Downtown Columbia*,

Muv Fitness – All locations** and

Downtown YMCA.


Participants may access scales at partner gyms during each facility’s operational hours.


Mayor Benjamin officially launched the #ColumbiaWeighsIn challenge on March 1, which challenges the City of Columbia to lose 25,000 pounds collectively between March 1 and June 1.

Those interested in participating in the challenge can sign up at any time on the website

Throughout the three months, there are weigh-in days when participants will report their current total weight loss. The schedule is as follows. 

Weigh-In #1 - March 22

Weigh-In #2 - April 12

Weigh-In #3 - May 3

Weigh-In #4 - May 24


At the end of the three months, the City will host Columbia Weighs In Day to calculate the total amount of weight the city lost collectively.

*Because 24/7 Health and Fitness Center is not staffed, those wanting to weigh in may do so between 10-11 a.m. on Tuesdays. Participants may get a key fob for access by visiting Michael's Cafe located next to the facility. They will be asked to leave their driver's license in exchange for the key fob.
